Bringing Healthcare Information to the Community: Producing Resource Events

Community healthcare resource events are some of the most meaningful work I do — and some of the most logistically different from anything else on my calendar. Here’s what goes into producing one well.

Accessibility First

These events serve people who may be dealing with mobility limitations, language barriers, or unfamiliarity with the healthcare system itself. That shapes everything from venue selection to signage to how staff are trained to greet attendees.

Multi-Vendor Coordination

A resource event often means a dozen or more healthcare organizations, each with their own table, materials, and staff, all needing to operate in the same space without confusion. Clear zoning and clear signage do a lot of the work here.

Translating Clinical Information for the Public

Working alongside healthcare partners, part of the production job is making sure information is presented in a way that’s genuinely useful to attendees — not just technically accurate, but actually understandable to someone encountering it for the first time.

Low Barrier to Attend

Free parking, clear transit access, simple registration — or none at all. The goal of a resource event is to remove every possible obstacle between someone and the information that could help them.

Planning a community healthcare or resource event? I’ve built a career around exactly this kind of work — let’s talk.
